The trip

Phang Nga Bay is the calm side of the Andaman: sheltered water, dramatic karst scenery, sea caves you can kayak through and the famous James Bond Island. It suits every boat, including pure sailing boats, because distances are short and the sea is flat in every season.

The bay is a national park of more than 40 karst islands, mangrove forests and hidden lagoons - hongs - that kayaks enter through cave passages at low tide. Beyond James Bond Island, the stilted fishing village of Koh Panyee makes the natural lunch stop. Early departures have the caves largely to themselves.

How it usually runs: a relaxed private day trip of 6-8 hours with lots of stops, from ฿24,900 for the whole boat. Also beautiful as a shorter sunset cruise returning under the karsts.

Why go private instead of joining a group tour

Group speedboat tours to Phang Nga follow the same fixed loop at the same hours, so the famous stops get crowded between 10:00 and 14:00. On a private charter you set the timing with the captain: caves before the rush, James Bond Island after it, lunch when you are hungry, and as long as you like at any beach or lagoon. The boat, the crew and the day are yours - for families and groups of friends it usually costs less per person than you would think.

A typical day on the water

Every charter is private, so this is a starting point, not a fixed schedule - your captain adjusts it to the tide, the light and your pace.

What it costs

Phang Nga Bay is the most accessible private charter from Phuket because the route is short and sheltered. As a guide:

Prices are for the whole boat, not per person, and include the crew, fuel for the standard route, soft drinks and snorkelling gear. National park fees are small (a few hundred baht per person) and paid on the day. Send us your date and group size on WhatsApp and we reply personally with the exact price for your trip, usually within a few hours.

Highlights

When to go

Phang Nga Bay works all year because it is sheltered from the open ocean. November to April brings the driest, sunniest weather. May to October is greener and quieter, and the water inside the bay stays flat even when the west coast gets swell - it is the one Phuket destination that almost never cancels. For the quietest experience in any season, leave early.

Questions guests ask

How much does a private boat to Phang Nga Bay cost?
A private sailing catamaran starts from ฿24,900 for the day, for your group only. Power catamarans, motor yachts and superyachts cost more depending on size and season. Every quote is confirmed personally on WhatsApp before you book.

How long is the trip?
Most private charters run 6 to 8 hours, with time for kayaking, lunch at Koh Panyee and James Bond Island. A shorter sunset version is possible too.

Is it good for children and people who get seasick?
Yes - the bay is sheltered, so the water is flat in every season and stops are close together. It is our easiest destination for young kids.

Can a sailing boat do Phang Nga Bay?
Yes. Distances are short and the water calm, so sailing catamarans are at their best here.

Will it be crowded?
Only at the famous stops between 10:00 and 14:00 - and on a private charter we time those stops before or after the group tours.
